“From the moment we’re born, we start trying to
make sense of our existence.”
- Bill Harris
Issue #518 – Monday, March 9, 2026
What stops you from just going through the motions, and instead being truly engaged with your work, your relationships and your life?
Today I’m sharing an essay from our Director of Client Services and Product Development Marc Gilson that might help you find the answer.
You see, Marc is celebrating his 30th anniversary at Centerpointe this year, and in this reflection on the past three decades he reveals the one quality that he realizes has fueled his entire career:
Wonder.
Marc shares how wonder isn't just for children or dreamers. It's actually a powerful force that lets you see possibilities instead of problems and opportunities instead of obstacles.
And he explains how protecting your sense of wonder might be one of the most important things you can do for your growth and happiness.
I know you're going to love this one.
Cheers,

Fanning the Flames of Wonder
A Reflection on 30 Years at Centerpointe
By Marc Gilson
Dear Friends,
I’ve been in sort of a reflective mood lately, and there’s a reason why.
2026 is a special year for me, because it marks my 30th anniversary working here at Centerpointe.
Thirty years of working with many remarkable people in the company, including, of course, our founder Bill Harris until his passing in 2018.
Thirty years of thousands of one-on-one coaching sessions with our incredible clients (like you!) to help them heal, thrive, and become happier, healthier people.
Thirty years of writing articles, hosting live events, and presenting information I hope has been informative, useful, and perhaps even inspiring.
And of course, thirty years of doing something near and dear to my heart: designing life-enhancing audio soundtracks to help with everything from healing from grief and trauma, to overcoming procrastination.
So naturally, I’ve been thinking back over these three decades - over half my life - and reflecting on how it all started. How did I end up doing this for a living? How did I even get involved in this field of coaching and sound design in the first place? What motivated me and interested me when I was just getting started?
I literally meditated on it with the Myholosync App the other evening, and I realized it all boiled down to just one word:
Wonder.
That’s why I got into coaching, meditating, and especially sound design. I’ve always been fascinated by sound, rhythm, and vibration. And when I first began my career here in 1996, that is what motivated me to experiment with and explore the incredible power of neuroaudio technologies.
The Inspiring Power of Wonder
Wonder is what motivated me to learn how Holosync works, how the brain responds to different sounds, and eventually to develop additional proprietary psychoacoustic techniques to further enhance the benefits of our audio products.
I think we sometimes forget about the value of wonder. We’re all busy adults doing busy adult things. Who has time for wonder? That’s for children, isn’t it?
But for me, wonder is a powerful force. It lets you see the world as a place of possibilities rather than as a source of problems we have to solve or worry about. It lets you expand your awareness, tap into the power of imagination and vision.
In today’s world, it’s so easy to become cynical and rigid in our thinking and feeling. Wonder lets us rise above that and see opportunities where others see obstacles. It lets us appreciate the beauty and mystery of life and of the universe itself.
I don’t mean to sound overly sentimental or poetic here, but for me, there’s simply no getting around the fact that without a sense of wonder about sound, consciousness, personal growth, and meditation, I would never have stuck with Bill and his (at the time) homebased little business he was trying to run. And I would have missed out on so much.
Because here's what I've learned over thirty years: wonder isn't passive. It isn't just a feeling you have when you look up at a starry sky or hear a piece of music that gives you chills. Wonder is actually a way of moving through the world. It's an orientation. A practice. And like any practice, it deepens the more you engage with it.
Every coaching session I've sat in over these three decades has reminded me of that. Each person who came to us - often in pain, often stuck, often doubting whether things could really change - was, at some level, still carrying an ember of wonder. A quiet, persistent sense that there might be more to their life than what they were currently experiencing. That something was possible that they hadn't yet accessed.
My job, in many ways, was simply to help fan that ember back into a flame.
And the sound work? That's been wonder in its purest form for me. The idea that a carefully crafted audio experience can shift brainwave states, unlock emotional barriers, accelerate personal growth, and help someone sleep deeply or grieve fully or finally let go of something they've been carrying for years - that never gets old. Thirty years in, and I still find it remarkable. I still want to know more. I still ask what's possible. I still wonder.
So as I mark this anniversary, I don't feel like someone looking back at a finished body of work. I feel more like someone who has spent thirty years getting better at asking the right questions. And I'm as curious today as I was in 1996 about where those questions might lead.
If there's anything I'd want to pass along after all this time, it's simply this: don't let wonder become a casualty of a busy life. Protect it. Nurture it. Let it ask questions that don't have easy answers.
It might just turn out to be the most important thing you have.

This Really Happened
The sound of rain combined with the other specialized sounds embedded in the track brought me back to feelings and memories that I had forgotten; it opened those files back up and I was able to begin to process unresolved emotions. I am looking forward to finding fuller resolution and insights by listening to the next Holosync track 🙂
