Have you ever felt lit up by a powerful idea—only to watch it fizzle out a few days later?
That’s the tricky thing about inspiration: it can give you a glimpse of what’s possible… but without action, it fades fast.
That’s why I’m so excited to share this week’s Mind Power essay from Centerpointe CEO MaryEllen Tribby. She’ll walk you through the crucial difference between inspiration and motivation, with tips on how you can bring the two together to turn your dreams into results.
Whether you’re chasing a new goal or reigniting an old one, what you’ll read today could be the spark (and the structure) you need to move forward.
Here’s to your next bold step,

Inspiration & Motivation: The Power Pair
That Turns Dreams Into Reality
By MaryEllen Tribby
Have you ever had a moment where your heart lit up with an idea so clear, so exciting, so full of possibility… and yet, a week later, that thought was still just that - just a thought?
Well, you’re not alone.
You see, an idea from inspiration is that first spark. But motivation is the firewood you need to feed it. And if you want to live the life you’ve dreamed of, whether it’s starting a new business, healing from a difficult past, getting healthy, or living more authentically, well…
You need both.
I’ve worked with hundreds of thousands of people over the last three and a half decades, and here’s one thing I know with every fiber of my being:
Inspiration will lift your spirit, but motivation will move your feet.
So today, let’s explore the beautiful dance between these two forces and how to invite more of both into your daily life.
The Spark of Inspiration
Inspiration is often quiet. It doesn’t always come in like a marching band. Sometimes it tiptoes in while you're doing the most ordinary things.
For me, inspiration often finds me when I’m riding my bike. The steady rhythm of the pedals, the wind on my face, the way my thoughts start to untangle. It’s like the fog lifts, and suddenly I see things more clearly.
Sometimes it visits when I’m gardening, watching a tiny green sprout push through the soil as if to say, “Keep going.”
And of course, some of my deepest, most transformative moments of inspiration have come while meditating with Holosync, when my mind is quiet and my heart is wide open.
Inspiration awakens something within. It reminds you of what’s possible. It reconnects you to your purpose.
But here’s the truth about inspiration:
Inspiration without action is like planting a seed and never watering it.
The Momentum of Motivation
That’s where motivation comes in. Motivation takes the beauty of that inspired idea and says, “Okay, let’s do something about it.”
And the key to motivation isn’t force, it’s structure.
We tend to think motivation is about feeling pumped up or “in the mood.” But truly motivated people don’t wait to feel ready, they build systems that carry them forward.
Here are a few of my favorite ways to invite more motivation into your life:
1. Break It Down
Big goals can feel overwhelming. But when you break them into small, bite-sized tasks, they suddenly feel manageable. Want to write a book? Start with 15 minutes a day. Want to get healthier? Start with one protein-packed meal. Small wins are the bricks that build big dreams.
2. Celebrate Small Wins
Don’t wait for the finish line to feel proud. Celebrate when you show up, especially on the days when it’s hard. Progress, not perfection, is the path forward.
3. Say It Out Loud
Tell your friends, your spouse, your colleagues what you’re working toward. When we share our goals out loud, we invite in support and a little accountability, too.
4. Keep Your Goals Visible
Out of sight, out of mind, right? So let’s keep them in sight. Write your goals on sticky notes and tape them to your fridge. Put a reminder on your bathroom mirror. Make a lock screen for your phone with your dream life written across it. Let your environment remind you who you’re becoming.
Why You Need Both
Think of inspiration as the "why" and motivation as the "how."
Inspiration lifts your spirit. Motivation builds your habits. Inspiration gives you vision. Motivation gives you velocity.
One without the other? It fizzles.
Have you ever felt deeply inspired by a TED Talk, a powerful book, or a heartfelt conversation but didn’t do anything afterward? That’s inspiration without motivation.
Or maybe you’ve tried to “muscle through” a tough project, dragging yourself forward without any real sense of purpose? That’s motivation without inspiration.
But when the two come together, when your heart is lit up, and your feet are moving forward - that’s when lives change.
From Dreaming it to Living it
Over the years, I’ve heard from thousands of Holosync users who tell me they felt inspired the first time they listened to one of our soundtracks. They caught a glimpse of what life could feel like: calmer, clearer, more connected.
But the ones who created real transformation? They were the ones who kept listening daily. They didn’t just get inspired. They stayed motivated.
They set reminders. They celebrated streaks. They built rituals. And before long, they weren’t just dreaming about peace, prosperity or happiness - they were living it.
So I want you to know that whatever dream lives in your heart right now - it’s possible. Whether it’s losing 20 pounds, finally launching that business, writing your book, or simply waking up each day with more peace and energy, it is possible.
But it won’t happen by accident.
It starts with that flicker of inspiration. And then… it’s about showing up.
One choice at a time.
One moment of courage at a time.
One sticky note on the fridge at a time.
So here’s what I invite you to do today:
Take a walk. Ride your bike. Meditate with Holosync. Let yourself feel inspired again.
Then grab a pen and write down one small action you can take toward your dream.
And finally, share that goal with someone who supports you.
Because you don’t have to do this alone.
You’ve got inspiration.
You’ve got motivation.
And you’ve got me - and all of us at Centerpointe, cheering you on every step of the way.
